Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hampshire County is excited to announce the 2024 date for 14th Annual Daffodil Run! Historically the event has been held on the last Sunday in April. This year our much anticipated timed and certified race, will be held on Sunday, May 5th, with the festivities beginning at 10AM at the Amherst Town Common. (*See below for more information) The 10k begins promptly at 10:00 and the 5K at 10:15. Registration begins at 8:30. Please arrive no later than 9:00 to ensure a smooth reservation process.
This community event has become the first marker of spring for the town of Amherst and draws hundreds of people to the area to participate and cheer on their family and friends. The Daffodil Run includes complimentary bagels, fruit and coffee for race participants and a pre-race warm-up with Jazzercise Amherst, followed by the timed and certified 5K Run/Walk & 10K Run. The post-race party includes music and tasty food offered from local favorites. There will be yellow kites for flying on the Common, and (weather permitting) a picnic game style tug-of-war with Amherst Fire Department versus Amherst Police Department!
The Daffodil Run helps sustain the power of youth mentoring through Big Brothers Big Sisters by connecting adult mentors with young people in our community. Once matched they go on to build a meaningful, positive relationship that empowers the potential inherent in each child.
Form a team with your work colleagues and wear your business’ branded t-shirts or hats to show your company’s support for mentoring.
Or gather a group of friends and family to walk/run in the support of our Hampshire County youth
Regarding our date change:
Our valley is full of meaningful events, and it seems inevitable that they may bump into each other on the calendar. This year, another leading nonprofit has a fundraiser on the same day. In support of each other and our aligned mission, we have chosen to move our date to Sunday, May 5th. We will be working together to cross-promote our fast-paced events. Expect to see that information on many platforms soon!
